Zak Mroueh

Zulu Alpha Kilo

A copywriter by trade, Zak spent the early part of his career at agencies such as Chiat/Day, BBDO and Taxi. Under his creative leadership, he helped lead Taxi to international acclaim on the world stage and seven Agency of the Year titles in Canada. In his career, Zak has been ranked amongst the world’s top Creative Directors, had two campaigns in the Gunn Report’s top five globally and been named Canada’s Creative Director of the Year three times.

In 2008, he took the biggest leap of his career and started his own agency. Nine years later, Zulu Alpha Kilo is a thriving 90-person shop. Headquartered in Toronto, his eponymous agency (ZAK = Zulu Alpha Kilo in the NATO phonetic alphabet) garnered international headlines in 2016 when it won Ad Age’s Small Agency of the Year top honours. It was the first time that a non-U.S. shop had won this international competition. Zak has been a judge at all the world’s top shows, including Cannes, One Show, and D&AD.  And Zulu has previously had two ideas featured in the Isaac Awards.
