Humberto was born in Lima, Peru in 1965. His first job in advertising was as a copywriter at Lintas in 1986.

In 1988 he joined McCann, where he gave his first steps on an international career that took him to many south american countries. He started as a creative director for the Coca-Cola account and ended up as CCO of McCann Colombia. In 1995 he won the first Cannes Lion ever in Colombian advertising (with a TVC for Tesa glue) and put the agency on top of the local creative ranking.

In 1996, he left McCann to start his own shop, Lowe/SSPM, one of the most awarded agencies in Colombia’s history.

In 2003, Humberto was invited to join Lowe Mexico as CCO and head of the Latam Creative Council and won the first 3 silver lions for that agency.

After a 4 year sabbatical in which he worked on digital endevours, he joined FCB in 2012 as Chief Creative Officer of FCB Mayo. He took that agency to become one of the most awarded agencies in the region with 9 Cannes Lions and 5 One Show, among others.

From April 1st, 2016, he is the new Chief Creative Officer of FCB Mexico and head of the FCB Creative Council in Latam. Polar has been a speaker in Cannes Lions, The One Club Creative Week (NY), Dubai Link, Eurobest (Lisbon) and El Ojo (Buenos Aires). In 2013, Business Insider elected him among the top 25 creative professionals in the world, in the 7th position.
